Ditz make loud noises. (See a theme with my reviews? I like noisy bands.) Musically, bassist Caleb and stand-in drummer Sam hold it all together, whilst the guitars seem to do just what they want to do. I can’t really compare them to anyone else I’ve ever heard – they are heavy and relentless, but considering how noisy and insane the guitars are, they are also poppy at the same time. Singer Cal provides a focal point - while the band thrash away onstage, Cal stands in the middle of the crowd, occasionally fiddling with effects and random electronics on the floor and sarcastically intoning over the top of everything. By the end of the set they are crowd surfing, while the band implodes in on itself crouched over effects pedals. To me, Ditz are one of Brighton’s most exciting bands.

Ditz played at Green Door Store as part of Washed Out Festival on 13 April, 2019.
